"Kindred Spirits are not so scarce as I used to think.

It's splendid to find there are so many of them in the world"

-L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

JoAnn and Henry David Dellenger met and fell in love while attending Indiana State University.   JoAnn (Miss JoAnn) graduated from ISU with a major in Elementary Education, a minor in reading, and has spent the past 25 years working as a licensed early childhood educator. Henry David graduated with a degree in Communication Studies from ISU, and has spent the past 25 years working in retail, hospitality, and customer service management.  While they were dating in Terre Haute, one of their first dates was at the tea room "Somewhere in Thyme".   JoAnn fell head over heals in love with with that little tea room that she reserved it for their wedding rehearsal dinner.   Then,  once they were married, their first apartment together was in the Queen Anne Victorian home of Indiana State University professor Dr. Willie Mae Grissom, which developed their love of historical preservation and Victorian architecture.   Throughout their marriage, JoAnn and Henry David have traveled all over the world searching out unique cafe's and tearooms; dreaming of one day running their very own.  During 2020, while the world was shut down during the Covid pandemic, the Dellenger's traveled throughout the entire state of Indiana looking for the perfect property to open their cafe / tea room.  That search lead them to Kokomo, Indiana. Now, they are thrilled to be fulfilling that dream as  co-owners and operators of The English Rose Cafe & Tea Room.
